Itunes will still be a thing going forward w/apple but it'll have a new name and 3 different branches for different types of media or osmething. adding a new thing to handle the library has me a bit nervous but i suspect it'll happen sooner or later. so i need to do some kind of detective work to sort out wtf is happening. to sound melodiously make melody sing Conjugation. copied entire contents of the drive to the new drive and directed itunes to find it and still it gives "these songs couldn't be found" type bullshit when syncing to the ipod. i got a new HD for my library because existing one is full up. doing a full transfer to a new app is daunting because i'm worried about shit just disappearing because fucking apple. I can only say good things about Swinsian, because I have not found any flaws. Swinsian works great with Airfoil for streming to my Airport Expresses. The sound quality is on par with Decible. Furthermore, I can use Swinsian to manage my iPod Classics and iPod Touch. It doesn't have anything close to Swinsian's feature set but it covers the basics and is something anybody can help contribute to. That said I've started working on my own open source music player just because I don't want to be dependent on something that could be abandoned at any time. Not only does it only take a few minutes to load my entire library, Swinsian will play mile audio files at their proper sample rate. Swinsian is awesome and I encourage everybody to buy a copy. Furthermore, The fact that iTunes tends to color the sound and will not change the sample rate. I have a 2.5 TB audio library and have had problems with iTunes lag and crashing. Decibel worked very good and sounded great, but it takes forever to load a large playlist from iTunes. I tried Pure Music and Bitperfect, but they work with iTunes and cause the system to lag or crash. I have a new (late 2012) 2.3ghz Mac Mini with a 1tb fusion drive and a Buffalo 3tb external drive the contains my music library.
